Durham Ranked #2 Place to Live in USA for “Twenty-Somethings” by CNN Money

To students and alumni of UNH, the small town charm of Durham is no secret. A tightly knit community set in picturesque Southeastern New Hampshire, Durham combines a sense of culture and entertainment with a friendly, small town feel.
These features make Duraham the perfect home for young adults, and according to a poll featured in CNN Money, Durham was recently voted as the #2 place to live in America for “Twenty-Somethings”.

Hallie Miller, age 20, a lifelong Durham resident and current Junior at UNH, is intimately familiar with the best that Durham has to offer. “Everybody knows everybody here”, Miller says of Durham. “It was a great place to grow up as a little kid – the community is so close and friendly. Transitioning into adolescence and then into college, I started to become more aware of how entertaining Durham could be – especially as a college student. Durham and UNH do a great job at working with one another to make Durham a fun, safe community”.

Much more than just a seasonal college town, Durham’s downtown area is home to many restaurants and bars which cater to UNH students and Durham residents alike. Durham and UNH work together to put on a wide variety of concerts and festivals, adding a great sense of culture to Durham’s community.

Todd Selig, Durham’s town Administrator, is particularly excited about Durham’s recent accolades and promising future, noting that “Durham is a terrific place to live and work no matter what age you are.” Selig praised Durham for “… working hard in recent years to broaden its tax base, hold down local property taxes, expand downtown business opportunities, and partner with the University of New Hampshire in new and creative ways for the benefit of the entire community.”
